It is officially 2017, and with a new year comes new year resolutions. We all have things we want to change, do differently, or maybe even create. It is important to set new year goals that are tangible, that you can stick to, and, most importantly, that will make you happy.

Everyone is different, therefore nobody will have the same resolutions. So don’t get give up if you’re not seeing the results you want right away. And don’t compare yourself to others, because this is your own journey.  With planning and determination you can turn your resolutions into habits.

Step 1: Pick a tangible goal and think long term. What resolution will add value to your life for years to come?

Step 2: Write down your resolutions and keep them somewhere you will see daily. Writing down your resolutions, instead of just thinking them in your head, will make the goals seem more real and serious. Place your written resolutions where you will see them each day. The daily reminder will help you keep your resolutions on track.

Step 3: Plan ahead. For example: If you want to have a healthier lifestyle, meal prep and give yourself the necessary tools to stay on track for healthy eating and making time to go to the gym.

Step 4: Realize that you will make mistakes, and that your resolutions will take time to reach. Don’t let yourself get defeated and give up on your resolutions. Instead, recognize what you can learn from that mistake and continue chasing your goals. One day of messing up doesn’t mean you need to end your resolution for the rest of the year. Nothing will happen overnight, but hard work, determination, and patience will make those resolutions that much more rewarding.

Step 5: Stay positive and surround yourself with those who support your goals. Highlighting the benefits and positivity will keep you motivated more than negative thoughts.

Step 6: Track your progress. Over a period of time you may be amazed by what you have accomplished and from there you can build on your resolutions by seeing the progress you have made.

Remember, you’ve got this. You can make any resolution a reality. Good luck with everything you want to accomplish. FeautyU believes in you!
